What is CPR?
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving first aid skill used to help victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
A cardiac arrest occurs when the electrical activity controlling the heart becomes disrupted. This causes the victim to lose consciousness and stop breathing normally.
Without prompt first aid treatment, a cardiac arrest is always fatal.
